About us

The story behind the name

Silver Chain Lanka Tours

Connecting the world, one journey at a time.

More than two thousand years ago, before aeroplanes crossed the skies and maps filled our phones, another network connected the world.

It wasn't made of roads.

It was made of oceans.

Ancient sailors followed the monsoon winds across the Indian Ocean, carrying silk from China, spices from Ceylon, gems, stories, cultures and dreams. At the heart of this legendary Maritime Silk Road stood one extraordinary island: Sri Lanka.

Every port was another connection. Every encounter became another story. Every journey added another link to history.

To every traveller, merchant, explorer and pilgrim, Sri Lanka was more than a destination.

It was the shining link that connected East and West.

That is where our name begins.

Today, we continue the same tradition.

Not by transporting silk or spices, but by sharing authentic experiences, hidden villages, ancient kingdoms, wildlife, tea-covered mountains, sacred temples, golden beaches and the warm smiles of Sri Lankan people.

We do not believe travel should feel like following a schedule.

It should feel like becoming part of a story that began centuries ago.

Every guest who travels with us adds another silver link to a chain that has connected the world through Sri Lanka since the days of the ancient Maritime Silk Road.

When your journey ends, the chain grows stronger.

Because you do not just leave with photographs.

You leave carrying a piece of Sri Lanka, and Sri Lanka keeps a piece of you.

Why us

What you'll remember

Planning a holiday to Sri Lanka sounds exciting. Until you actually start planning it. Should you spend two nights in Ella or three? Is Sigiriya really worth it? Which safari is the best? Should you stay on the south coast or the east coast? Which hotels are genuinely worth your money? How long are the drives really? What should you skip? Will you spend more time travelling than actually enjoying the places you came to see?

Are those "hidden gems" really hidden, or just popular tourist stops with a different name? Can you fit everything into one trip, or will you end up rushing through it all? Which experiences are genuinely unforgettable, and which are simply overhyped?

Most travellers spend weeks reading blogs, watching YouTube videos, comparing reviews, opening dozens of browser tabs, saving hundreds of places on Google Maps, and asking for advice in Facebook groups, only to receive completely different answers and end up more confused than when they started.

That's because information is everywhere. Good advice isn't. It's about knowing what matters most to you.

That's why we don't begin by asking, "Which package would you like?" We begin by asking, "When you look back on this holiday years from now, what do you hope you'll remember?"

For some people, it's watching the sunrise from the top of Sigiriya. For others, it's finding a quiet beach with no crowds, sharing dinner at a small family-run restaurant, spotting a leopard in the wild, drinking fresh Ceylon tea overlooking the hills, or simply enjoying time together without worrying about the plan. Everyone's answer is different. That's exactly why every journey should be different too.

We believe the best holidays aren't the ones where you visit the most places. They're the ones where every day feels like it was designed for you. Sometimes that means slowing down instead of rushing. Sometimes it means skipping a famous attraction because there are better ways to spend your time. Sometimes it means choosing a hotel because of the experience it creates, not because it's the most expensive. Those are the decisions that turn a good holiday into one you'll still be talking about years later.

Our Head Guide brings more than 15 years of professional experience, but experience is only part of what we offer. We keep exploring, learning, visiting hotels, discovering new experiences, and listening to our travellers so every recommendation is based on genuine value, not habit, commissions, or convenience.

From your first conversation with us until the day you return home, we're here to make your journey feel effortless. Not because everything always goes exactly to plan. But because you'll always have someone who knows your journey, understands your priorities, and is ready to help whenever you need it.

At Silver Chain Lanka Tours, we don't measure success by the number of tours we organise.

We measure it by something much simpler.

When you return home and someone asks, "How was Sri Lanka?"

We hope you smile...... because you don't know where to begin.
